The bitter-sweetness of endings & beginnings.
We begin things knowing that in time it will end, no matter how tough and durable it is. After all, even metal eventually decomposes.
And when the endings occur, what more can our simple monkey brains do than to hang on to it as long as possible?
Why do endings have such a bad reputation? After all, they allow new beginnings to take place.
I’m so glad that endings exist, even though they bring along with them the
temporary misery and heartache.
My sister expressed quite an intriguing question about this misunderstood topic,
“Why do all friendships HAVE to end in drama and anger? Why can’t we just accept that we’ve outgrown each other and are on separate paths, leading separate lives, thank each other for the friendship and go our own way ?”
She presented me with a life-changing epiphany. The end is usually shrouded in negative thoughts and feelings when it really should just be showing gratitude for its existence. After all, endings are proof that growth and change have occurred and isn’t that itself a cause for celebration?
The ones who don’t appreciate endings, don’t appreciate growth.
