The Global Climate Strike

Today I attended the Global Climate Strike. And it certainly changed my life.

Usually, I am surrounded by apathy. No one around me (except my sister) cares. They do not care that the planet that so kindly gave them life, that allows them to live, is being tortured and degraded in front of their eyes. They do not care that their very own resources are being polluted and will very soon cease to exist. They do not even care that their children and themselves will suffer a death caused by drowning (rising ocean levels are flooding entire cities), suffocation (extremely heavy pollution), starvation (all of our resources are disappearing), or one of the many natural disasters that are occurring every day.

Because no one around me cared, I began to think that not caring is normal and I was delusional.

But, marching with 80 000 people who agreed with me, who wanted to honour and thank Mother Earth, who were compassionate enough to recognise that we are hurting so many innocent species of animal, and intelligent enough to not want their children to suffer an extremely painful death.

Striking with these rational and passionate humans made me realise that apathy is not okay.

Not caring is disgusting.

Not caring is selfish.

Not caring is obnoxious.

Not caring is signing your own death warrant.

Not caring is absolutely and completely gross and I have no respect for people who do not care.

It doesn't take a PhD degree to recognise why you should care. It is basic and common sense. It is time to save our Mother.

Honestly I feel sorry for the people who don't care, their eyes haven't opened to the reality of the situation.

Ps. Sorry I couldn't make it boo, my parents don't want me to miss school if there was work to be done at school🙁
